I lead an interesting life…

I lead a very interesting life. I know this to be true, and I love it. I live in a 3 bedroom house with 9 people. Of which only 1 other one is a girl. One of the people who lives with us owns the house, and he (as much as I love him) is irresponsible, spontaneous, and undendable. He decided to sell the house, and we all have to move...by the first. Now, rewind. My friend moved out of his, very small, but cheap at shit, appartment in a boarding house. (a house segmented into small apartments). He left with no notice, and just tossed his key in the dumpster. He left at the beginging of this month without paying rent. I want his apartment. I have imaculate credit---not just no credit, i have GOOD...no grand...no SPECTACULAR credit (I'm so proud *sniff*). I want to move into the the aparment by the frist. when I called the property managers 2 weeks ago, they claimed the person in charge was on vacation. She came back monday. I called her and got the app. She says that she is not legally allowed the enter the apartment until the first (which is when his lease would have run up). She says she can't cause he gave no notice so she has to wait. She also claims to not have a key. She says the soonest I can move in would be the 14, and i'd be lucky to do so. Is she right, about not being allowed to enter the place until the lease runs up, or is she just lazy? Is there anything I can do to speed the process up? and can you guys think of anywhere I can stay other than a motel? theres one right across the street from where I work, so I may just do that, they have weekly rates.....Any help or advice to get this girl to hurry up would be most appreciated....thanks Edit to anwser some questions: Yes, he was a very bad tenant, that is why I am not using him as a reference---he had an english mastiff and two bunny rabbits...the place is disgusting. He was SUPPOSED to pay the last months rent, but did not. There are many places that DO require you to pay the last months, the places that DON'T require you to pay the last months require you to pay it at the BEGINNING of your lease, that was if you leave with no notice, they still have another months rent. Yes, they took a security deposit from me (I got a receipt, and it's stated in the application that you need a 30 non refundable application fee and a 200 deposit). My main point was: I only knew 3 weeks ago I had to move, and I immediately called that place to try and get the spare apartment, and i've had them drag their feet....Its quite annoying. Also, the motel I was thinking about is apparently some shady coverup for something else, because they dont have an office, or working phoneline, and aren't listed in the phone book, despite the fact that they have a huge sign, with a phone number written on it. The plan seems to be to sleep in my car for two weeks.
