I Need Glasses!
Okay, I'm sure this has been addressed, but I couldn't find it. I'm nearsighted. Nearsighted enough need glasses to watch TV, drive, see...? Anyhow, I usually only wear them to see the tv screen or drive, even though I know I'm supposed to wear them all the time. Anyhow, my point is, on my 21st birthday, some friends and I got pretty drunk. Well, my glasses, of course, were not on my face. They landed on the floor somehow and my friend stomped them. Now I've had these glasses since at least 2004 for two reasons. The biggest would be I don't have insurance so I haven't had an eye exam since then. These glasses were from Lens Crafters, plastic frames and plastic lens. They were supposedly "shatter-proof" and well, they didn't shatter, so I guess they lived up to their name. They did, however, snap in half where the bridge for your nose is. So I tried packaging tape and it wouldn't stick well but used it anyway. I was sporting a rather "Harry Potter" look, lol. The frames are kind of chunky, I don't know if that helps. I tried rubber cement, superglue, tapes, nothing seemed to hold more than a few hours to a few days. I did eventually get electrical tape, which is working well. As in they stick together, but it looks so AWFUL. =_=;; Plus, I managed to somehow get 'glue spots' on the lens now and can't get them off. Which bothers me 50x more than fingerprints and dirt smudges combined! Does anyone have any advice on how I can get myself a pair of glasses (and exam, I think) that will still be "cute" for my round face (lol) and not cost me a million dollars? I would prefer a rather resilient frame, only because I'm in the bad habit of laying them around carelessly. Thanks in advance for any advice!
