I rescued this off of a sidewalk in the French Quarter last summer, someone had dumped it because it was dying from overwatering. I took it home and repotted it, it has flourished ever since, it’s about 3-4 times the size it was when I found it. It even survived a month without being watered and being left inside with no sun during Hurricane Katrina. It isn’t that pretty, but it sure is hardy. :)
It resembles some sort of palm, but I haven’t been able to find a palm-type that matches this so far in my search. Thus, I turn to you lovely people.

Any Ideas?

The full view, height and all.

Closer view of the spikes/leaves at the top.

Close-up of the trunk? Stems? Stalks? It’s more wood-like than anything.
