found a caterpillar gnawing on my datura. i wish i could post a picture but my camera isnt working so ill try to describe it as best i can.

i think it's in the sphinx moth family. its about an 1.5-2 inches long. green with yellow stipes going up and back towards the butt. there is also some brown/dark on top of the yellow stripe and at the base of each stripe (towards the belly) there is a very small reddish dot. there is one spine on the butt.

it looks very similar to this but without the lines on the head (maybe mine is a very younger caterpillar and mine doest look as fat).

anyone know for sure? also, is there a good online caterpillar/butterfly resource? ive been googling for some time and its very hit or miss.

im in texas if that means anything.

edit: off tpoic i havent forgotten about the datura seeds if anyone is still interested. i think i harvested the pods too early and the seeds werent mature. im going to wait until they dry on the vine. let me know if anyone is still interested.
