Identifying Plants

Identifying Plants

With my new yard comes some new... shrub/weed/"what the heck is it and do I rip it out or love it with reverence" things. I have plenty of books identifying tropical fish, birds, mammals and insects but none to identify plants. Can anyone recommend a good resource for this type of thing? I don't think I have anything particularly exotic, just unknown to me (which is a great deal since my plant choosing skills before this have been in the "oohhh, shiny" category.) Also, I'm going to try to go native as much as possible while redesigning my landscaping and garden, so any books on that subject would be awesome. I'm in Georgia, zone 7b. And one more question while I'm at it. We have two areas of lawn which aside from planting a few more trees in, I'd like to keep. Currently it's not so much lawn as it is moss and weeds. How do I go about rehabbing it in the most environmentally friendly way? I'd rather not nuke it with weed killer if possible, but it would be impossible to pull up the weeds by hand. If I heavily overseed will the new grass choke out the weeds? And what type of grass should I choose for a fairly cushy lawn surface? The only grass I'm familiar with is the Bahia we use for pasture at my father's cattle ranch.
