I’m back from England bearing gifts

I’m back from England bearing gifts

I think each part of the world has a season that is most impressive - for northern England the season is June. I took like 2GB of garden photos much to my husband's dismay, but I thought I'd pace myself and only upload small sections to share. This is my in-law's garden on 13 June 2008. I've marked a few with ** if I couldn't identify it - if anyone can ID them I'd appreciate it! The bees were mad for the hardy geraniums and bachelor's buttons. **No clue what this is - a shrub with clusters of white flowers. - ID: elderflower **Also unidentified climber with very charming pink flowers. ID: Snowberry As always, my FIL cuts the roses down to the ground in early spring and by June they look like this. Closer photo of pink roses. Roses of a coral-red. Hardy fuchsia of a prodigious size, one of my MIL's faves. Honeysuckle - Lonicera periclymenum which is not as strongly fragrant as japonica, but less invasive. Evening primrose & some sort of jasmine with gold foliage. Dusty Miller Young Apples. **Lovely ferns (no idea what kind.) - ID: bracken fern **Some sort of blue star-shaped flowers growing directly out of the wall. ID: Serbian bellflower **Unidentified blue balls of flowers about the size of a ping-pong ball. - ID: Ceanothus Columbines & hardy geraniums. I just like this one because of the bumblebee butt you can see sticking up from behind a flower. Another bee on a columbine. I was just amazed by the bees in their garden - I should probably plant for attracting more. Foxglove. Hardy geraniums in another shade. I think I need to put some in next year. **I think this is some sort of hebe. This is just a photo of the climbers on the shed. Wisteria trained into an appealing arch. A photo of one of the wild borders. ~Å~
