A couple of weeks ago, I placed a couple of orders – one for iris rhizomes and another for day lilies. Confirmation emails from both orders said that the orders would be shipped in early September. I had already planned to get outside this Saturday to make sure their planting spot was ready. When I got home this evening, I found even more incentive to get out in the garden in the morning. My iris order had arrived!

LOL I promise I’m not getting paid for this! I’m just so pleased with these rhizomes that I had to share. These are beautiful, healthy rhizomes with lots of plump roots. And most (if not all) have buds on them where new rhizomes are forming!

These will all be planted in a new area I’ve been working on at the end of my driveway where I have two tree stumps that can’t be removed. I picked up some garden mums today and they’ll go in there as well as will the day lilies I ordered a couple of weeks ago. Once we’re far enough into fall I’ll be adding daffodils (and maybe crocus and hyacinth) for early spring color. I’m trying to have constant color in this area from last frost to first frost. Still haven’t decided what to add between bloom times of the irises and day lilies. LOL I’m thinking more internet strolling is in order.
