In Search of Spring!
Well, seeing that yesterday was the first day of spring, I thought I would take some lovely pictures of my front and back yards. These pictures I took when I got home from school, about 5:30 p.m. today. As you can see by the first picture, the squirrels have been beating a path to the birdbath, on top of the snow. It is visible above the two feet of snow. The snow is gone from under the trees in the front, but that's about it. The back yard doesn't look much better. You can see my little summer recluse spot, with my adirondack chairs just starting to become visble through the snow. The snow piled up in front of the gardening shed will take awhile to melt yet, so you can see how much I am looking forward to seeing the grass when it finally makes it's appearance. So far the last few days have been cool so the snow is slow to go. Along the drive you get a good view of the snow bank, and all the white stuff that has yet to melt. Somewhere under all this snow are my flower beds. I am anxious to see my tulips blooming, but that will be awhile away yet. There will be pictures coming then. The only flowers I can show you today are my two Christmas Cactus, both in bloom and my flowering maple. Fushcia Christmas Cactus Coral Christmas Cactus Flowering Maple I plant this flowering maple out in the flower bed in summer, where it blooms all summer, and then I bring it in before the first frost in the fall, and after it adjusts to being indoors, it blooms all winter for me. My orchids aren't blooming this winter. I hope to get them outside this summer and that may help with the blooming process. I brought my amaryllis up from the basement last week, and started watering it. It has grown a foot so far, and I am taking pictures every other day, to show the progress. Once it blooms I will post the pictures. It gives me another thing to look forward to. I have an african violet that is budding too so I will have to take a couple of pictures when it is in bloom. I hope to get going on starting seeds indoors this week some time. That's all there is this time around so I'll sign off for now.
