In the jungle, the mighty jungle

In the jungle, the mighty jungle

I'm bummed. This weekend I planted flowers, herbs, and tomatoes and peppers (seeds) in my basement plant room. This morning I went in to visit and was greeted with a forest of fluffy, white mold in the flower/herb seed tray. *sigh* I read in a book last night that tomatoes will do better if you expose them to temps around 50F for 2-3 weeks after they are 1 to 1.5 inches tall. Anyone ever heard of this/tried this? Ideas of how to do this? It's not hard for me to heat stuff up, but I'm not sure how to cool stuff down (esp while keeping the light up).
