indoor small pine tree problem

indoor small pine tree problem

hi everyone, i just joined this group and i'm hoping someone can offer some ideas/suggestions/etc. around christmas time, i bought a small indoor potted pine tree. it didn't say what type it was specifically it just said 'live christmas tree'. anyways, since the beginning of december i've had the tree and it has been doing wonderfully. until about a week ago. i noticed that the brances were curling under and it was very dry and brittle. in fact the ends could be snapped off quite easily. i checked to see if it needed water and the soil was only a little dry; not horribly so. i gave it water mixed with miracle grow, thinking a little nutrient boost couldn't hurt but there is little to no improvement. does anyone have any ideas what might be the problem. visually nothing else is wrong with it except for the above mentioned. any help would be appreciated. thanks.
