1) Since I am paying $3 a month for a cable box (I would get rid of it, but I need it for my current set up), I watch lots of FREE OnDemand movies. It's great for when "there's nothing on". It keeps me from wanting to go out and pay to do something. 2) The Library. My local library has DVDs you can borrow for 10 days. I usually get 3 movies and go once a week. Better than netflix and they have a pretty decent selection. They have a TON of VHS tapes, too, so if you still have a VCR (or you want to pick one up cheap on Freecycle or Craigslist) you can get some serious mileage out of them as well. Just don't forget to rewind! Oh, yeah, and they have books there. And CDs. And magazines. And newspapers. And books on tape! All great stuff to check out before you head on vacation or a road trip. 3) The internet. I'm already paying for it, so why not use it to watch TV programs I've missed (the networks website, or hulu.com or other sites), or read blogs (you can find one on just about ANY topic), or just keeping in touch with my friends through e-mail, facebook, myspace, or what-have-you. What inexpensive things do you do to entertain yourself? I also think about inexpensive entertainment to entertain myself. Yeah.
