Informed Hospital Patient Tips?
Hi all, Don't know if you all remember me, but I'm the one with the mother who broke her back in Janurary and was having a hell of time getting her on Medicade (I can't find the original post right now since I'm at work). Anyway, she finally got it and my mom is in the hospital right now finally getting some treatment not just for the compression fractures in her lumbar vertebra, but also malnutrition, a decubital ulcer, and possible heart arrhythmia. I want to stay on top of what kind of care she is recieving so it doesn't turn into a bigger mess later. It's already getting pretty damned confusing with all the doctors and tests and stuff they are doing. Does anybody have any resources or tips to share about how to be an informed patient and being active in your own care at the hospital? We've already had problems with another hospital screwing up their own records and neglecting to tell us stuff, I want to prevent malpractice before it starts, just in case.
