intro and question
hi everyone! i'm brand new to gardening, and for a while didn't like flowers at all because i thought i was allergic to them (plus i tend to dislike the fragrances, go figure). but i found out that most of the pollen i see floating around in the spring isn't from flowers at all, but trees! so i'm ready to try to plant something, now that i have my own yards to work with. i recently ordered a few annuals (seeds) from burpee, just to try out in containers this summer. i'll start perennials in the garden next year - which brings me to my question... i really want to grow columbines next year, and i'm finding seeds for mixes, like the songbird, harlequin, and quetzal mixes. i was thinking that each seed in the packet would produce a different color bloom, and i'd just have to wait and see what popped up. but some of the pictures in the catalogs look like the different colored blooms are all on 1 plant - is that the case?
