IRS wanting MORE money
Four years ago I worked for someone over the summer who didn't take out enough of my taxes. Last year I was sent a letter from the IRS telling me I owed them $400+ dollars due to this error. I wasn't happy about that, but I paid it. Today I got another letter and they want another $263 dollars for the same thing. They worded it as a "readjustment" on the paper. I was making $7.50 an hour and worked 25 hours a week. I also only worked for six weeks. With their "readjustments" that means I would have only made $462 in a six week span. Does anyone know what this is, and if it's possible to fight it? There is a box that I can check that says I disagree with their decision. However, I want to make damn sure I know what I'm doing before I check that box. As a side note, I have my pay stubs, and my taxes from that time. I tend to put all my pay stubs for the year in that year's tax folder. It's a good thing I am a pack rat when it comes to pay stubs!
