Just joined, thought I would say hi…

Hello everyone.

I just joined and thought I would say hello and introduce myself.

My name is Andrea, I am 25years old living in a suburb of Milwaukee, WI. (Zone 4/5) I am currently going to school for Horticulture/Landscape Design and work in a nursery here. I grew up gardening. My mother always let me plant one small bed that we had in the backyard. It was usually filled with snapdragons as I like to make them talk. I still plant snapdragons and my mother still buys some for me.

I lived in apartments until a little over a year ago. So I never really had plants for a while. Now I live with my boyfriend in his house and we have a HUGE backyard that I get to fill with whatever my little heart desires. Last summer was the first time I got to do anything. I planted a garden. He has an obsession with peppers, so we started those from seeds and then eventually the garden was 98% peppers, jalapenos, hot peppers mix and bell peppers, and then I had a couple tomato plants and one cucumber plant that was killed when said boyfriend ripped the cage off of it for his peppers. (shakes head)
The tomato plants never made it since I planted them too close to the black walnut we have. I didnt realize that until AFTER I started taking classes. (smacks head) I did find it odd that all the peppers did VERY well though.

This year we have already started the peppers and I am currently growing Mesclun inside.

I am planning on redoing the entire yard with lots of new planting beds, walkways and a firepit. Just trying to find the right plants that I want to put in the back. We have a condo parking lot behind our lot and I would like to hide that from sight, and so they dont just wander over into our yard wanting to come hang out with us and our puppy. (thats ackward) SO if anyone has any suggestions, other then evergreens, for the back lot line it would be greatly appreciated. Lots of sun, though gets very wet, and LOTS of space to be filled!

However I think that I have taken up enough time and space. I am pretty excited for spring to finally get here and to get my hands dirty again in the soil.
Thanks!
