kitty litter

kitty litter

couldn't see anything in memories for this so one for the cats! i came up with this when going through old files of bank statements etc that i'd kept for who knows how long and didn't want to be putting that kind of stuff with personal info in the recycling. i have two indoor cats (as one is FIV+) so they have two trays in a cupboard they can get into through a hole which get changed every day. if i was to buy kitty litter this would cost be a bundle so i shred paper. this of course requires an investment in a shredder (in AU you can get a cheapie for $30, no doubt cheaper in other countries) but once you have one you can shred *anything*. usually i get free street press to lay down the bottom of the tray and i shred junk mail/old files/my old school reports ;)/dodgy printouts etc. non-glossy paper works the best. i collect a shoebox full of paper and once a month spend an hour shredding it all and voila - free kitty litter with no biodegradability issues... :) hope some of you find this useful cheers! _s
