So here is the basic situation. In June I steppedin a whole at a bus stop, severly sprained one ankle and also a slight sprain to the other. It was while trying to get on a city bus. It was caught on the camera, but the bus driver in a rush to finish his shift didn't file the proper paperwork and the bus company ignored my calls to file a report. I was on crutches for 6 weeks and out of work 4 of those weeks since I don't drive and on average at the time had to walk 2-4 miles in a day. At the time I contacted a lawyer who told me to go after the city becuase it sounded like it was on city property. he warned though that they would push it off on the bus company since they are owned by LaidLaw. Well I did as the lawyer said...and just like he said my claim was denied by the city. So it looks like I need to find a lawyer to sue the bus company who GROSSLY mishandled this. Does anybody have any idea what kind of lawyer I need? How to find one that will take his pay out of the end result? What should I look out for when choosing a lawyer?
