Learning how to drive in Florida

Learning how to drive in Florida

Question about driving in Florida. So Florida specific answers would be most helpful, but info on any state is at least a little helpful. Learning how to drive makes it easier to get more hours at work, and getting a person with you to teach you to drive instead of paying for a drivers' school saves money, so I think this is a poor_skills question. I need to learn how to drive. I'm 25 and have just never learned but we're getting to a point where I need to. My parents live 4 hours north so it's not really convenient for them to teach me now. My fiance, though nervous, would be willing to teach me. However, her parents provide her car insurance, and obviously I am not on it. Her mother refuses to put me on said insurance, which I can sort of understand because the cost would go up. However, this prevents me from learning to drive, which means her picking me up more often and driving more. I've asked multiple friends about this, and have had 2 tell me that they THINK in Florida, auto insurance will cover any driver with a Learner's Permit. I'm not finding much on Google, one mention about a particular company that allows LP drivers to be covered on the insurance for 1 month free. If something like that was the case, her mom could add me to the insurance for 1 month while I learn to drive, and then I'd get my own insurance when I got my license. Or perhaps the rule where a licensed driver must be in the car would mean that person's insurance would cover things? The Question: In the state of Florida (or anywhere else), does standard auto insurance cover drivers with Learner's Permits for any amount of time at no additional charge? Bonus points for links to said information. Thanks! Sean
