Let’s Get Inspired!

I thought it might be fun today if we all posted a little bit about a specific area of our homes.  Maybe, we could even provide pictures or discuss projects that we’re working on.  Perhaps, if you have a challenge for the room and want some advice on it, you could ask for it here.

So, the room I want to ask about today:

SHOW ME YOUR KITCHEN!

Since I asked, I’ll show you mine.  (Pardon the mess, I’m in the middle of putting away groceries, cleaning from last night’s party, and washing the dishes that I found while cleaning around the house.—How do those dishes wander about like that?!?)

OK, the curtained door to the right of the table is my pantry.  It’s basically a long hall-like room that runs the entire length of the wall down to the door on the right.  The door on the right is my utility closet (basically, where I store the brooms and vacuums and my cleaning supplies, shopping bags, indoor gardening tools, etc…)  Those are apples and pears stuck on my wall- it’s a half finished mural.  I’m hoping to finish it out this weekend if I can get the kids to stop carting dishes around the house for me to chase down.

My utility closet, the windows, more mess, and the white thing sticking up over the top of the high chair is my washing machine (it’s a wonderwash) and the blue thing on the floor next to it that kind of looks like a toilet is my clothes dryer.

And my kitchen cabinets and sink, and more mess and down on the far end, the fifth batch of clean dishes this morning.  I think I should start asking my guests to do dishes before they leave (or else break down and start using disposable plates and cups again.)
The counter top is normally cleared off.  The fruit basket is on the table, the crock pot is normally in a cabinet unless it’s on, etc…
My biggest problem in this kitchen is a severe lack of ventilation.  I have the vent hood over the stove and two windows, but you just SWEAT from the humidity levels in the kitchen.  There is no dishwasher, so by the time you’ve washed a single basin of dishes, it feels like the ceiling is oozing rain on you.  I’ve tried fans, Damp Rid, and a few other things… to no avail.  Now I just mainly try to leave the windows open as much as possible.
