Let’s take a look around my porch

My dog, Stella, makes frequent, ghostly cameos, by the way. Just letting you know!

Finally, the long awaited picture post of my apartment in my new home of Muncie, Indiana! (Also, a few randoms.)

This is the entrance to my porch. It’s what I see after I park, walk up the driveway, and head inside. So come in!

Let’s take a look around my porch.

Be forewarned, it is *not* very tidy right now. Stella got a hold of a stick when I wasn’t home and tore it to shreds. I shouldn’t even be out here without any shoes, lest I risk a bad splinter.

This is to the right when I come in the porch … the surround sound system, a dresser I thrifted and added new handles to, a glider and table from Austin’s dad, table and chairs from a garage sale, repainted and reupholstered the chairs …

To the right are some old rocking chairs the landlord put there … between them I’ve put a strawberry plant. Some basil and parsley should be sprouting soon. The Rhodes is also here for now, until winter when Austin will store it at the school building.

Turn around and look out the screen! Pretty neighborhood.

A detail.

The table, where I keep things like my Venus Flytrap plant and some daisies from the store. The porch is really great to hang out in, with the ceiling fan, a cool breeze, music and the lights … wonderful. My favorite part!

Into the kitchen, from the porch …

This is the door I go in and out of most. It links the porch and the kitchen.

The chairs are out of place because Austin and I were looking at stuff on the computer together this morning over homemade waffles. :P

The laundry happens in the kitchen … it’s actually really, really convenient since I can just throw dirty dish rags in the laundry and wash them overnight. I keep my laundry stuff on an old, antique end table I got at a garage sale for $3. That’s also where the chairs are from. The table is from the school building and the table cloth is vintage 1950s from Austin’s grandma.

I do have to say that the ceiling needs work … and the sink is a hideous green, but it’ll do for now! We’re making it work.

Another shot.

The obligatory peek in the fridge. Can you tell I just went shopping?

There are so many pictures of Austin up here at so many different ages. That and my myriad of to-dos.

My favorite part of the fridge! (I like it almost as much as the part with the food in it.)

Okay, we’re backing up into the hall now…

Right behind us is the bathroom. It’s not much to see, but here are some shots, anyway.

The pretty curtain was donated by Jason and his wife. They moved and I told them I loved their linen curtain, so they gave it to me!

Now, back out into the hall.

I love this built-in thing. It’s got shelves in it. And those stained glass windows to the right in the photo are SO pretty during the day. They glow orange and red. One of them opens up to the porch which lets some breeze in.

Here’s the hall closet. I just keep extra linens in there.

This is a *really* long hallway, spanning the length of the house. It took some getting used to.

This leads to my bedroom. And what do we have here except a dog on the bed without permission!

It’s a mess right now. You can’t even really see the sheers on the window … but there’s not much in here anyway.

The best part is my living room. It’s where I’ve put the most effort, anyway.

This is the few from the hall entrance. To the right is the door to the “foyer” which leads to a main door of the house. It’s really cool looking in there, but I forgot to photograph it.

The living room is really just full of things I’ve been collecting from all over the place – flea markets, garage sales, family heirlooms, gifts from friends … I’d go into detail but there’s so much … if you’re curious about anything, though, just ask! (In particular, please note the three paintings, two orange and one blue, atop the hutch on the desk – they were done by and they’re my favorite. She paints all the time, so visit her journal, take a look, and let her know if you’re into something! They’re really beautiful! There’s also a framed print by , framed on the white built-in bookshelf. She has an etsy store with some lovely things as well!)

I love the big window!

Media…

This table and dresser I bought at garage sales and painted. The curtains are vintage, free from my friend Robyn. This is going to be my crafting/sewing area. I just need to get a glass for the table and plug in my sewing machine.

I’m going to add fabric to the curtains so they’ll be longer.

My other bookshelf …
