Life is cool
I love to garden. Over the past 2-ish years I have not gardened as much as I would have liked to. Basically, DH deployed, DH came back, much remodeling was done, DH deployed again, my work schedule changed, blah blah. Anyhow, we are all past that now and it is spring and there is gardening to be done. It's time to clean up and make plans (well, actually those should have been made already, but....see above). There is a section in the yard, on the far side of the clearing opposite from the house, where I have wanted to establish some spring flowering shrubs, starting with some Quince. Quince are tricky, they are great because they bloom really early, but they have that peculiar shade of "pank" blooms that doesn't really play well with others. Anyway, I picked up some nice sized Quinces last year and...........well, this that and the other, I didn't plant them and they sort of, well...died actually. Ummm, yeah. Worse than that, I never even tossed them, because I kept meaning to fixed the collapsed surround of my composte heap and never got to that either. So, still no planted shrubbery, but spent money on and killed the ones I got last year and am surely having to deal with a nice bald spot in the grass. This morning I went out to that side of the garden to figure out what needs to be done. Apparently, what needs to be done, is that those "dead" shrubs need to be planted, because all three appear to still be very much alive and two are about to bloom in a few days. Life, you just can't beat it!
