Living on my own/College
In either Late June or Early August I'm moving out my own. I *really* don't know what I'm doing [but I have to do it. There is ABSOLUTELY no other option to this]. I am soooo disorganized, and have $300 in the bank, and that's pretty much all to my life. I have a little cheap car as well that gets a lot of MPG. I have a list of places I can move [thanks to my friend who's a Marist Student]. There's a room for $300/month utl. included [and if I don't get that one then there's one for $400/month utl. included]. A) Do I call the land lords now [even if I'm moving late june/early August and talk about meeting them for an interview. What should I say? I'm going to a CC that is $1300 plus incidentals and fees [so maybe $1500 a semester]. I filled out a FASFA, am going to call for an EOP interview, and since I have an LD, I'm going to do a VESID interview. I live in NY and am going for a Teacher Education transfer. B) Any other funding you can think of? If all my financial aid doesn't cover it, what should I look for in a private loan? I'm getting a cell phone so I have communication to the outside world [prepaid]. I have a laptop with a wireless card. C) Do I need to buy internet access or can I just find a WIFI spot? Will that work with JUST a card? My college has WIFI as does the Starbucks next to the room I want to get. D) What are some ways up gas efficency [I've heard that you should keep your tires inflated]? E) Any cheap food ideas? I'll need to see if I can use the kitchen in the apartment [more then likely not], but I can get a mini fridge. F) Is there anything I'm forgetting [I have health insurance through the school and through my parents, my dad is covering my car insurance, I'll use about $40 for personal care and maybe $40 a month for clothes and other needed things. $20 for entertainment as well.] PS: I need to buy A LOT of expensive books. I have the list of the books needed for the spring semester, and have looked up the prices on FROOGLE and can get all my books under $100. When is a good time to ask the professors if I can get a list ahead of time. July? Thanks.
