lost money orders?
My husband and I are in the process of procuring an apartment, but we are having to do it through the mail because he is across the country. This past Friday morning, he overnight expressed an envelope containing the apartment application and two money orders: one for the $25 application fee, and one for the $130 deposit. I spoke with our leasing agent on the phone yesterday and she told me she had indeed received the package and that everything was fine. She faxed him a map of the community and had him pick out a unit. Today she called me to tell me that there were no money orders in the envelope, and that she couldn't process the application until she had the fees. I called the husband and he insisted that he had sent them along with the application. So, is there anything we can do about this? He saved the stubs from the money orders, do those help at all? (sorry to sound dumb, but we don't usually use money orders so I'm even really sure what the stubs are *for*). I don't know if they are genuinely missing or if the leasing agent is just dumb/lying. I'd really rather not have to shell out an extra $155 bucks because of this... we are already extremely tight on money as it is and we really want to get this going as soon as possible. Thanks :)
