Making plans for next spring

Making plans for next spring

Summer's on it's way out, not quite gone yet, but I find myself already anticipating Spring. I'm anxiously anticipating which of my perennials are going to come back, hoping that there won't need to be a big cash outflow to fill things in next year. Last year I pre-planned a display of dusty miller and coral bells for the garden bed out front. I did get what I wanted but it will probably take years, if ever, to get to the way I want it to look. Meanwhile I threw some other things out there to fill it in. I moved my azalea that was languishing in the backyard up there. It's catching on nicely and has a good root system finally but still looks kind of ill. But if all goes as planned that bed is going to look magnificent next year, I hoppa I hoppa. I'm starting to feel like a very picky person when it comes to gardening. But I digress, back to making plans. I'm making notes of what I'm going to buy in the Spring and thus far there are a couple of bushes on the list, if they are affordable. And some summer blooming bulbs, I didn't get any this year. I will definitely start coleus from seed as the past two years of doing that have given splendid results. Goodness knows whatever else is going to make that list. Am I the only one who starts making plans before the season has even ended?
