Male and female flowers in Pumpkins

Male and female flowers in Pumpkins

I know someone had asked a question about male and female flowers on their squash and I had the same question about my pumpkins because the flowers only opened in the morning and then would close and die. I didn’t know what the difference was between male and female. I finally found a nice site about pumpkin flowers. A picture is worth a thousand words and now I know what to look for! I’m pretty sure this applies to all members of the cucumber family. Here is a nice little page on hand pollinating. Hope this helps. I’m very happy to have found these. Now I know I’m in the early stages and have to wait for the first female to appear.
