Hi there, new here. I was wondering if anyone could help me with getting medicaid. I keep running into problems and I was under the impression that poor people could actually get it if they were in dire need. However, every time I get a hold of someone at the office, they tell me that I need to be pregnant, have at least one child, or have disability through Social Security. Somehow, I was under the impression that you also would qualify if you had a medical condition and had reached a certain amount in unpaid medical bills. Or at least, that's what a social worker in TN told me. Now I'm currently living in Florida and they seem to not want to even talk to me, let alone help me. The only advice the employees have given me were to apply for disability, which I have done, but I'm still waiting. Plus, I think they told me that after I'm approved (if I am...) I still have to wait 2 more years to get Medicaid. Any advice? I have no insurance and desperately need to see a doctor for medical advice and treatments. I've been to the hospital before but they refer me to specialists who won't take me since I don't have insurance coverage. Also, I've called the local hospitals and since I live on the other side of the county lines, I don't qualify for the low-income free-coverage programs.
