Mini Roses?

Mini Roses?

My fiance' got me a miniature rosebush last January. So far it's been doing alright until about 4 months ago it started getting the white fuzz mold on its leaves. I looked it up and it said to contain it, use a spritz bottle on it. I did that steadily for a while until it was safe to put it outdoors. I used an anti-fungal/mold spray then and used it as specified (for a week) while it was outdoors in a sunny spot. I noticed after a few weeks the rosebush started getting less and less "bushy" and many of its leaves were drying up and turning brown. I thought that(since it was getting warmer) it was being scorched by being in a full sun spot. So I moved it to a part sun spot on my porch but the plant has been loosing leaves ever more. Now it's hardly more than a few green stems and a handful of green flowers (and many brown/dried ones). What's wrong with my plant? I've been watering it steadily, but I have no clue what the problem is. I thought it was the spry, but I stopped using that two months ago and my plant hasn't turned around at all yet.

Roses are very delicate. The fungal spray is probably to harsh. You might also be baking it in the direct sunlight. Try to move it to indirect sunlight.( Not shady.) Also take a really good look at the leaves and stems. The white fuzz might not be mold. Some roses will grow tiny white hairs to keep themselves from loosing water.

Roses also are more prone to getting aphids (plant lice) than mold. Which the larva of aphids are usually little white fluffy looking dots. They are very slow moving so you might not recognize them as bugs.Check around the stem, bottom of the pot and under the leaves for little green or brown tick looking things. They can be very tiny. . Those are adult aphids. They also release a sugar on the leaves they are sucking the juices out of leaving the leaves hard and black over time as well. I recommend finding somewhere that sells lady bugs to get rid of them if you have them.Usually the mold that affects my roses leaves brow/black spots. Also make sure you turn the soil in its pot or whatever its in.After months of watering  potting soil ect tends to get compacted. Not really great for drainage. Which is something roses need a lot of. Now it is going to take time and a lot of care for it to come back but it can.

I would pull off the dead leaves and any stem or leaf that appears red. The red stems and leaves are hard to explain. They are kind of a “dead growth”. When you have a lot of dead or red, the roses don’t grow as much plain green leaves. Your roses will also stop blooming with a lot of red shoots and leaves. Just gentility pull them off or prune them with scissors.

Also make sure you are not over watering or over fertilizing you will attract aphids. I plant cat nip in my pots with my mini roses. I had a very nice lady who runs the nursery that I bought my roses at tell me the aphids like the roses but hate the cat nip. So the cat nip is supposed to help keep aphids away.
