Mint woes

Mint woes

On March 10th I planted a small apple mint plant in a 10″ azalea pot that I keep outside in full sun (in San Francisco, so “full” sun isn’t that much). Full sun is what Golden Gate Gardening recommends for mint in this area.

But it’s sad. It doesn’t seem to be growing much, and some of the leaves seem to be drying out. The lower leaves especially–their color is sort of “off” (a little yellowish or brownish) and they are stiff. One is even cracked.

I reread the Golden Gate Gardening article and confirmed that it said full sun. It said “as long as it gets enough water,” so I’ve been trying to make sure the soil is always moist. It doesn’t seem to be helping.

Am I just being impatient? Is it still just getting used to its new home? Am I OVER watering?
