Miss Charley’s Leche Quemada
3 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter (real butter)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 (13 oz.) can Eagle Brand condensed milk
1 (13 oz.) can water
2 c. pecans
Combine all ingredients except nuts in a large, heavy pot. Boil gently on medium heat until just above soft ball stage on candy thermometer. Add nuts, and pour into buttered baking dish – 9×12 or so. Cool, Cut, then nom nom nom.
This makes a soft, caramel-like candy.
