This is pretty interesting. It’s a quiz to figure out which of the 5 types of money personality you have. Or a combination there of. It’s from some woman’s personal finance book and to learn more about the personality types, one would have to read it. I’m justing making surmises as to what they are.

My results were:
The number of responses by category type:
* Hoarder: 9
* Spender: 1
* Money Monk: 3
* Avoider: 3
* Amasser: 4
You tend to have the following money personality: Hoarder
I think Hoarder might be because I’m worried about the future and of having enough, especially because of the last few years of family medical and funeral issues and having to pay for them out of pocket. I want to make sure there’s enough to cover my mom’s passing. Also, watching my mom have to get govt sponsored care because she never had a retirement fund. It was always, “I’ll do it later.” Watch out…
It’s also weird because I do spend my money though, but I’ve noticed it’s mostly on food and bills such as student loans. I usually hedge for other things, even with technology or the art studio I’m thinking of getting. I’m still on the fence about that one. I’ve been meaning to buy jeans and boots for winter forever but am still putting off doing the research for it. Yeah, so pretty much outside of daily expenses or bills, I guess I don’t buy a lot which explains why I wince at paying $20 for Whitney Museum admission. But, I don’t mind treating people for dinner or buying them other stuff sometimes when I think they may need a bit of help that one time or just to be nice if they’ve had a bad day.
It seems like Amasser is the next step for Hoarder, as in all the retirement accounts and investments lined up correctly so the money starts working for YOU. I’ve saved some money and have been putting off researching socially responsible funds because it seems so complicated. I don’t like that our 401k doesn’t have those options so I’m going to sit with my accountant to figure it out…in January…I promise.
Please feel free to report back with your results. I think it would be really cool to figure that stuff out. It can possibly shed a light on some money issues in people’s lives.
ETA: On another site: http://www.ips-online.co.za/article8.html
I found this:
Hoarder: Budgets and saves carefully, hesitates on unplanned purchases
Spender: Buys spontaneously and impulsively
Avoider: Hates to deal with money at all
Money monk: Thinks money is dirty and corrupting
Amasser: Self-worth depends on how much spent or saved
