mortgage buster tomatoes

Since it’s tomato day, apparently… Has anyone ever grown these? I got them from the same guy I get all my other wildly successful tomato plants, and they are all doing well, except for these. It was weak to start, and it’s finally started flowering, but they’re just dropping off without fruiting. The flowers are like no other tomato flower I’ve ever seen. They look more like a dandelion. I wondered if maybe the bees don’t know what to do!

I’m in Oakland, CA. I got off to a late start planting my little wooden boxes this year because of all the rain, but I’m pretty happy with how things are going. I’ve got more pictures here if anyone’s interested (and here‘s last year’s, with the gigantic, wonderful, never-ending tomato plants). Thanks!

I grew the mortgage busters last year. We live in Illinos and it’s usually pretty hot and dry here. The tomato’s did wonderful! They were the best tomato’s I have ever eaten. Am getting them again this year. I tilled in Miracle grow soil in the garden and I wonder if this helped as the plants were a wonderful success. Am going to try it again this year as well.
