Moving / Storage

Moving / Storage

I'm starting to move, and I'm trying to figure out which moving/storage method would be the most cost effective, and get some opinions on the available options... I will be living in a fully furnished house until May. I'll be taking very little of my own stuff with me... pretty much everything will go into storage. We live in a 1700 square foot house, we have 3 bedrooms, 2 of which will have to go into storage. We're selling our couch, bed, and some other small items, so furniture wise we'll have 3 dressers and 2 mattresses, full-size washer & dryer, refrigerator, table/chairs, and a few odds and ends... last time we moved we used a 17' truck and didn't have enough room. From what I'm looking at, I'd need a 24' U-haul and a 10x30 storage building. (Right?) In my area, it looks like that size storage building is going to run me about $60-$80/month, and that's not climate controlled. The U-haul cost me about $80 total last time with gas/mileage and such, so I'm estimating it'd be around $100 this time. A friend suggested PODS but I haven't heard anything, good or bad, about them, so I don't know whether or not that's a good option. So my question is, what do you guys think is my most cost effective way to get everything moved/stored until May, possibly June, then moved into our permanent home at that point? We're aiming to be completely out of our house by Feb 17th. Also, have any of you used PODS and if so, what did you think?
