At the end of May, my fiance and I will be graduating college in New York and moving to Florida. I've never moved this far before, and we are fairly poor, so we're wondering how exactly to pull it off. Is it cheaper and better to ship items all the way there, or to drag them in a car with a trailer? Renting a Uhaul seems pretty expensive. Also, we don't have jobs in the area yet. We've been working on it, but it seems companies are hesitant because 1. we aren't available to work for a few months and they need their positions filled sooner, and 2. they probably don't think we're serious about the job when our current address is in NY. Any tips for this or ways to find jobs from far away, or ways to find work right away when we get there? Are there any tips or tricks that would allow us to save money while doing this? Anything we should avoid? Thank you!
