So, I've been waiting pretty much forever to be able to make a post here. Now I'm FINALLY done with my massive, 2-month-long nightmare move, and I'm ready to show my place off! I live in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment with my boyfriend and another roommate. Today I'm just gonna show you my bedroom and bathroom, though. It's my favorite part of the apartment, so I have a lot of pictures! Many people like soft, soothing colors for bedrooms. I'll warn you now - I'm not one of those people. Come on in! This is the weird shape of my room - I posted it a while back in a paint color question, but I always like a frame of reference for spaces, so here you go again. :) Here's a "before" picture. This is the old color, which is nice enough I guess, but not me. If anyone recalls from my color post, I was thinking of keeping it the same pale green color as my old room. As you can see, I blatantly disregarded all advice that I was given. As you stand in the doorway and look left, this is what you see. The big painting, which still has to be hung, is actually a portrait of my boyfriend done by his dad when my boyfriend was about 2 or 3 years old. It's one of my favorite pieces of art ever. Turn your head to the right a little bit, and you see this. The room has three *gigantic* windows, so I had to buy the super expensive cellular shades in order to keep my A/C bills from being ridiculous. Looking straight ahead from the doorway, you can see some of my fantastic view. I live in one of the US's oldest intact Victorian neighborhoods and all the houses are gorgeous! Finally, stepping away from the door and standing in front of the desk, you can see my reading nook. My desk! It's a massive, 300+-lb thrift store desk that used to be hideous dark brown. My boyfriend and I sanded, painted, and polyurethaned it, and now it's awesome. My desk lamp has a mica shade, which makes it fragile, but the light looks gorgeous coming through it. Here's a picture of my dresser and one of my bookshelves. The bookshelf came off of Craigslist, and I looove the lighted vanity. In case you couldn't tell, my name's Faith, lol. My boyfriend's mom worked on HBO's John Adams, so our apartment has tons of cool little things from the set in it, like these apothecary jars. A closet shot! Even though I'm in the master bedroom, I have the smallest closet in the apartment, so I have to stay hyper-organized. Case in point, my shoes, hahaha. To the right of my closet is my tall... bookshelf... thing? With my dancing Shiva on top, and the awesome stereo my boyfriend got me for my birthday a few years ago. Directly across the room from that is the empty wall that I'm still working with. And the huge stack of prints of photos taken by me and by a friend of mine that I have to figure out how to arrange on the wall. Hrmph. Here's a detail of how I painted around my light switch. I taped off a square and then actually spray-painted it this teal color. It's more intense in person, believe it or not. Before we journey into my bathroom, another shot out my window of some of the gorgeous local architecture. Here's my bathroom, from the door. I went lime and aqua in here, and I love it. :) A close-up of my color pallet. In addition to the three massive windows in my bedroom, there's two more gigantic windows in the bathroom! TONS of light. ^_^ Here's a shot straight in from the door of my vanity area that I created around this built-in ledge. Oh, and me in the mirror. A close-up of my makeup area. And of my ever-growing "inspiration" wall. A dinosaur that my boyfriend's little sister drew for my birthday 3 years ago. I loved it so much I framed it! :) Turning around and looking back out towards my bedroom, you can see my jewelry chest and my awesome towels. I have a LOT of jewelry, so this giant thing is the only way to store it that works for me! I used to work in a ceramic studio, and over 5 years ago I painted this ring holder - amazingly, it matches my color scheme now! And another John Adams relic, a pewter candlestick holder with one of my cool candles perched on top of it. Finally, I'll give you a sneak peek of bits of the rest of my apartment, which I should be posting within the next week or so - don't worry, there won't be NEARLY as many pictures of other rooms as there are of my room, hahaha! No captions for these guys, you're just gonna have to wonder... Sorry for the massive amount of pictures, but for the first time in my life I'm incredibly happy with my space, and ya'all are the only people who will really appreciate it, hahaha!
