I now am the proud renter of a 4′x8′ plot in our local community garden and I’m having trouble deciding what to plant. I have some ideas, but I’d like to hear some other ideas from the good folks here. Things to keep in mind are that we might not have this lot next year as it’s on loan, and if we do, I might not get the same plot next year anyway. So no perennials or anything that produces in the second year, as it may have to get ripped out. Also, I have an herb garden on my deck and have done well with that, meaning I end up with more herbs than I can use most years, so I probably wouldn’t plant herbs in my plot. Or tomatoes or potatoes since I’m growing those at home also. I also am seeing how cayenne, jalapeno, and Black Beauty Eggplants and onions do in a container. It will be an experiment.
I happen to love red peppers, perhaps to a level approaching irrational, so I might do those.
Anyway, what would you plant if you had such a space? Thanks in advance!
