new at growing

i am having some problems with my peppers and tomatoes. the leaves are yellowish and have developed dark brown spots. any ideas as to disease, deficiency, etc? could it just be sun scorch because it was very hot here the last few weeks? i have searched a lot but not found any pics that look exactly like what i have going on. any help would be much appreciated!
