New Guinea Impatiens

New Guinea Impatiens

Does anyone have any advice for a New Guinea Impatiens (NGI) that is wilting? Here's the story. My bf bought me this really big NGI - it had more blossoms and buds than I've ever seen on ANY plant before. Having never taken care of one before, I put it on my screened-in porch. The next day, it was really wilted. I brought it indoors and gave it about a gallon of water. Within 2 hours, the leaves were perky and the blossoms were open and beautiful again. I quickly learned that it prefers to be in my air-conditioned apartment, rather than in the muggy outdoor heat that smothers Tennessee at this time of the year. Well, it did really well inside for about a month. I watered it every 2 days or so. Every now and then it would wilt again, and I would give it about a gallon of water to perk it up. Well, for the past few days, my poor dear has taken a turn for the worse. All of the blossoms and buds are gone. The leaves are shriveling, even though the soil is wet. I don't know what to do. Please advise! Thanks, Sheila
