new to me: terraced garden

new to me: terraced garden

This summer, I'm looking at developing a terraced garden with 3-ish levels on two sides of a house--approx. 25 x 3 feet deep per level on each side. My hunch is that this would help prevent soil from eroding away from the house. I'm planning on using bricks to hold everything together, and line the beds with plastic (but make sure to poke the plastic with holes for drainage) before filling them up with dirt. My first thought is that at least one side could serve as the vegetable garden. The other side could just be perennials and bulbs. Does anyone have any experience growing in a terraced garden? Anything I should look out for...or anything to stay away from? Thanks in advance for your help.
