Not Glorious, Heirloom Mystery, Ancient Seeds
So, I've been reading way back through entries and some questions come to mind. 1. Are Morning-Glory & Moon Flower vines really that awful? I have three packs of seeds that I was going to plant along a rather ugly chainlink fence that separates my [rental] property from another [owned] property. I think there are some vines already growing from last year. However, I don't want to piss off my neighbor or future tenants by planting more of this weed-like plant, but I'm really smitten with their blooms and think they will have a nice effect on the fence. FYI, I do have two Lilac trees growing in the area, and last summer I noticed some vines twining around their stems. Is this bad? 2. I have some black heirloom hollyhock seeds that I'm really not sure where to plant. I've tried looking up their sun/soil/water requirements and just can't seem to find any information. The aforementioned link fence gets a lot of morning & afternoon sunshine; is this a good area to plant them? 3. I forgot to use some seeds from last summer; they were stored in a cupboard drawer all winter, in their original packaging. Is there any luck that they will sprout? Should I soad them all in wet towels to see if they sprout rather than put them all in the ground and wait-hope-pray from there? For reference, they are mostly herb seeds (sweet basil, nasturtium, chives, parsley, morning glory & moon flowers).
