not much has changed

In the couple of weeks since I last took pictures. Iris buds showing color, clematis in bloom, dianthus and flax in bloom. I guess that’s something [g]. We had a really chilly spell (highs barely breaking 50F, which is more than 10 degrees below normal) for about two weeks that finally ended this weekend, which slowed things way down [stamps foot].

Anyway. Back here:

This is Nelly. Nelly Moser clematis, that is. This is the clematis I accidentally whacked back to the ground during its first August, almost two years ago. It doesn’t seem to have minded too much [g].

I think this is Barbara Jackman clematis. I do not know for sure, but the description and photos I’ve found match. I bought this one almost ten years ago, and the label has long since disappeared. This is the one that my friend’s granddaughter whacked back to a foot above the ground for me last July. It’s running a little late this season because of it, but there are plenty of buds.

Front flower bed from the driveway. Iris buds, dianthus (the magenta), flax (from a plant I grew from seed last year — the tiny blue to the right of the dianthus), columbine (white), aubrieta (lavender), pansies (all volunteers — I haven’t planted pansies in several years).

The hostas in the patio beds are getting big, too, but I forgot to take a picture of them.
