Ok, I did it…

Ok, I did it…

Probably WAY too early here in Kansas City, but it’s 50 degrees outside RIGHT NOW and so I did it anyway…I started some seeds.

I’ve had a small 3 gallon eclipse tank at work for the last 5 years and on thursday the damn filter pooped out. So I went out and replaced the whole thing since they don’t sell replacement parts. When I got the old tank home, it occurred to me that the only part that DIDN’T work was the filter, the daylight bulb works just fine. So I thought I’d experiment around with using it as a small seed starter.

Ok, I did it...

Go capillary action go!

Hopefully, if I’m lucky and it works, I’ll have fairly decent sized tomato plants and pepper plants to put out in april. The seeds are over 5 years old, so, luck will no doubt play a large roll here.

Currently on my husband’s honey-do list is to construct a table for starting and transplanting larger quantities down in the basement complete with a suspended grow light.

If it does work, I should have time to start flowers before the season officially begins. This should also prove to be cat proof.
