Ok, what the heck…

Ok, what the heck…

So as I mentioned a while back, me and my fiance started a container garden of sorts on our porch. I was all excited about having my own little garden, because it's been about three years since I've been able to just wander outside and pluck what I need / want off of a tree / bush / out of the ground. Well, I started to notice something wrong right from the start. My peppers look great, and healthy and seem to be growing just fine. The lemon tree is doing fairly well, just chugging along in it's big pot. The tomato plant looks...the same. o.O No big deal, but nothing major to report either. My zucinni plant hasn't grown much either, but that's alright! Now the problems. I accidentally killed one of the little seedlings for my cucumber plant (::cries::) because I tried to take a small browned leaf off of it and slipped (I was sitting on my heels and shifted my weight and my bad ankle gave out...::sigh:: which then caused me to yank the seedling completely out of the dirt...) Well, ok, no big deal, I still have two left, but they're starting to look a little...well, withered around the edges. Can anyone think of causes? Then we get to my herbs...I had planted basil, cilantro and mint. My mint shriveled up and died within a few days, and I have no clue as to why (what I'm used to having is mint just growing everywhere, to the point where it's almost pointless to try and stop it...So I was really heartbroken when it just...died.). I noticed some odd yellowy powdery stuff sitting on the one-third mark that was designated for just the mint. It never really passed that section, but I thought it was odd. I couldn't figure out if it was mold, pollen or something else. Well, after the mint died, the basil shriveled up and died a day or two later. I was shocked! Now my cilantro is yellowed and wilting and looks like it's about to suffer the same untimely demise as the first two herbs. Now I'm noticing odd little grasses popping out of the dirt and a LOT of tiny mushrooms. Is there just something horribly wrong with that single planter? I can't figure out if maybe something got into that single planter, because the dirt all came from the same bag and (for the most part) the other plants are doing ok. I'm completely befuddled as to what could be wrong. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?
The good, the bad, and the tasty!
