Open Office as a free substitute for MS Office?
This might not apply to many of you; if so, by all means, ignore. Does anyone have any experience using OpenOffice as a substitute for MS Word/other MS Office Suite programs? It looks like it works as a completely functional (and free!) substitute for it, but I'm a little paranoid about trusting anything free without recommendations (though paying $100 or so for a student version of MS Office doesn't sound very fun, either.) Has anyone used it? Does it work right? Does it play nice with MS Word? Does it crash often? Thanks for any tips/advice.
