Our Flower Show

Thursday night was our Spring Flower Show at our Horticultural Meeting, so I decided to go all out. I wore my newly created gardening hat just to help get everyone in the mood for spring. It was also our 85th Anniversary as a horticultural society, so that was quite an event as well.
I thought you might like to see my hat so I am enclosing a photo. Also, I entered 16 items in the flower show and won 5 firsts, 4 seconds and 4 thirds with my entries. I think I did quite well. I am enclosing a picture of my entries as well.
And with it being our 85th Anniversary, I got my cousin,(who owns his own bakery) to make the cake. It was a slab cake, and because our emblem for our society is the purple pansy, he did a wonderful job with the decorating. A friend of mine from the society brought in three flats of pansies so we could decorate the cake. I have enclosed a picture of that too. It isn’t the best picture as it was zoomed, but because everyone was anxious to start eating the cake, I took a couple more pictures with my 35 mm. and then it was cake cutting and eating time. Everyone complimented me on the cake and the decorating. It was a team effort for which we are all grateful.

I am also the society secretary, so I take the minutes of the meetings, take care of our web site and also stay in touch with the members via emails. I also design all the posters, business cards, name tags, society announcements etc. for the organization. We have our Garden Tour coming up in July and I have to make some more name tags for the volunteers and the Garden Hosts and then will make up the thank you cards after the event. These I do on my computer, and they have a photo of the garden host incorporated on the front of the card, as a keepsake for them.
I love my job, I wish I could find one in the real world that I could get paid for, but for now the thanks I get are enough.
