I planted some gourds last year, which turned out nice. I hollowed them out and gave them to my friends with kids to make into birdhouses (I drilled the holes) and will be seeing some finished results this weekend.
I planted the rest of the seeds this year, and have some more gourds… they’re not HUGE and look like this one.
I’d like to plant some more next year as they were a hit.. but I’d like to try some BIGGER ones, like the ones here (not the plastic one, the real one) What kind of gourd is this? Where can I get seeds for them? Will they even grow where I live (in NW CT)???
I’ve seen purple martins in this area, but we had sparrows as occupants in the house (first year it’s been up) and I didn’t have the heart to chase them out.
