Overwatered tree

Overwatered tree

I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago that I had a Kwanzan cherry tree that I planted in February in San Francisco, and the months of March and April were monsoon months. The poor little tree shriveled up and its newly-formed leaves dried up and died. It hasn't rained in 3 weeks. I aerated the soil, but it still looks sickly. I'm very concerned. Should I be patient and wait? How can I tell when it's beyond repair? Thanks!
