So, it’s August, and despite the fact summer has only just arrive in Maine, I know I’ll be turning on the heat soon!!

I planted lettuce in a pot a week ago and it started to sprout but a caterpillar ate them all . Is there a way I keep bugs from eating my plants?

my tomatoes are falling over. i have the typical round wire tomato cages, which are just tipping completely over under the weight of so many green tomatoes. i also have some metal spike/poles driven a foot into the ground with the tomato plants gently wired to them, and even those have started leaning.
