Malabar spinach
The time for warm season crops is over, now it’s just a question of what we can preserve for winter. We’ve picked malabar spinach two or three times a week all summer, and we still haven’t made a dent in

I’ve been working on raised square foot beds for the last few days: I can’t call what my yard has “dirt”. More like clay laced with rocks. :) After bagging and hauling a cubic yard of dirt, building the boxes,

New Plants!
I’d been itching to expand my little collection of plants, so today I went out and bought some new guys to keep the old prayer plant company. At some point I want to put the flytrap in a pretty dish

Bug ID and Lily ID
Pictures behind the cut. These bugs are just hanging out on my tomatoes because they like the shade right? They aren’t going to decimate my three tomato plants just when I had hoped to finally have some home grown tomatoes,

Sharing springtime flowers
I just thought I’d like to share some pictures of our springtime garden. The day temperatures have been around +10 Celsius (~50 F) for the past week or so and it shows. The first crocus have wilted already, but on

broken bird nest fern
My bird nest fern started to lean a few weeks back. I have been trying to prop it up. This morning I went to water it and the crown separated from its roots. Just broke off. Can/will it grow new
