Buckwheat

I know very little about gardening, but I was hoping to start growing some buckwheat. I have celiac disease and can’t have gluten, and I’ve grown to love the taste of buckwheat flour! From what I’ve googled, it seems to be very easy to grow, and I know tons of it grows wild locally here [...]

Pollination

I just bought butternut squash, acorn squash, and watermelon starts. I only bought one of each and then realized that one of each may not be enough to get fruit! Does anyone know whether the squashes and watermelon are able to self-fertilize or do they need another mate nearby?

Anyway, I planted them outside and the older ones (that I can’t remember the name of) are doing fine but the Super Sweet tomatoes keep vanishing. As in, I’ve planted three sets of [...]

pesticides/herbicides and organic gardening

i’d love to have my first garden be an organic one! however, we moved into this house last year and we’ve come across areas that were sprayed with herbicide (the previous owners were trying to kill mint), and we also found some ant-poison cones in the ground. i don’t want to dig up the entire [...]

Just a couple pictures.

Hello! I just wanted to post some pictures of my little gardenspace, since I’m so proud of it. :B I set the bricks and built the fence around it myself. It was hard work but a lot of fun. :) When I first started, my mom wouldn’t even look out the window at it, but [...]
