Paperwhites taking over the world
We have about a million paperwhites running rampant around our home & property... they were doing so when we moved here two years ago and we are still finding more and more. We've been trying to dig up the bulbs and transplant them in more appropriate places (than scattered throughout the lawn) as well as give them away to friends. However, no matter how hard we try to mark them and dig them up while they are dormant, we still miss tons of them. So the question is this... they have sprouted well right now now. I'm not really concerned about the flowering (they are bunched too much as they are to flower properly anyway) but will I kill them by digging them up right now?? I'm assuming if it is OK to do this without harming them horribly, I can just cut off the new growth and/or just plant them elsewhere as is? I'm to the point of thinking that right now is the only way we will dig up the majority of them because we can *see* them. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions??
